Elipta Apollo 70 Wide Spot 60 Degrees

£235.00

Apollo is a spike or surface-mount spotlight primarily designed for energy-saving uplighting of trees.

The Elipta Apollo 70 Wide Spotlight with a 60 degree beam angle has been designed for energy-saving uplighting of trees. The Apollo has an adjustable stirrup bracket so it’s able to be mounted to walls or an optional ground spike, whilst the lens features “”through-flow”” slots so water flows off the lens even if pointed directly upward or fitted with a glare shield.

It utilises a 70 watt single-ended metal halide lamp (Order lamps separately) and polished reflector to project a 60 degree symmetric circular beam for uplighting larger trees: the central 60 degree beam is perfect for uplighting from beneath and is complemented by peripheral light spread for coverage of canopies.

Where the shape of the tree falls within a 40-60 degree arc, use the Elipta Apollo 70 Wide Spot to cover up to 15m high, dependent on density and colour of the canopy and structure: perception of brightness varies between different people. If the tree has a wider spread, especially over 10m, use 1 or more Elipta Apollo 70 Wide Spot 60 degree spotlights for a more full effect.

Use 150w models for larger trees or where the trees are further from the viewpoint to make up for the distance. Where the outer canopy is dense and the inner canopy and structure is more open, uplight the central trunk and branches with one Apollo 36 degree spotlight and position other Apollo spotlights to light up the outer canopy. Look up through the tree you wish to light – if you can see up through the branches, then light will penetrate the canopy and structure as well. If not, use uplights to light the tree externally. Lighting large trees is a black art: test the position of uplights with a temporary wiring set-up before final installation.

Ceramic type CDMT70 70 watt single-ended 3000K warm white metal halide lamp for is recommended for long lamp life and colour stability for purple/red/yellow/green foliage trees. HQIT70K4 white lamp gives cooler lighting effect suitable for trees with blue/grey foliage such as some pines and cedars. ORDER LAMPS SEPARATELY.

Installation

:

Stirrup bracket for mounting on walls or an optional ground spike. 20mm IP68 gland provided for connection to mains supply. HO7-RNF 3 core rubber cable recommended for connection to armoured supply cable via a separate weatherproof junction box or underground joint kit (not supplied).

Using a single RCD for large numbers of 240v fittings is not recommended due to the risk of nuisance tripping. We advise the use of separate RCD protection for each circuit and a maximum of 12 fittings per RCD. Where a garden lighting installation of more than 12 spike mount or recessed lights per circuit is proposed, we suggest the installation of 12v units with transformers, which results in a significantly higher fault tolerance and reliability in the total installation
